Russia’s war of aggression in Ukraine has sparked an energy crisis across Europe. The high energy costs inevitably lead to Europe-wide measures. So far, there seems to be no end to the crisis in sight. Many countries are therefore facing major financial cuts.

The platform visual capitalist has meanwhile examined how much money the European countries have to spend in the wake of the energy crisis. The analysis covers a period from September 2021 to July 2022. In the following ranking we show you the ten countries that bear the highest costs.

10th place: Czech Republic

In September, the Czech government announced that gas and electricity prices would be capped. As early as November, both consumers and the economy should feel some relief. In order to counteract the energy crisis, the Czech Republic has so far $5.9 billion invested.
