‘There is hardly any time for myself’
You can google as much as you have a child, but you only learn the truth about parenting in practice. With your lukewarm risotto at the dining table, for example, or when you’re drowning in the laundry.
Sharon (35): “Time has been a great asset since I became a mother. There is hardly any time for myself anymore, I am actually always racing. Bringing children to school, washing and oh yes, also working in between. Sometimes I wish my days had 48 hours. I see shopping without Rosa (1) and Jasmijn (7) as a moment of rest for myself. And since I have children of my own, I also know what the best baby shower gift is: something time-saving – cooking a meal or cleaning the house for someone, for example.”
Handy, such a lock
Anouk (44): “Since I became a mother, I can no longer sit quietly on the toilet for a minute. Even though my children are a bit older now – my fivesome consists of Dexx (17), Lizz and Elina (15), Jochem (12) and Elle (10). There is still one with a currant bun in his mouth regularly standing in front of my toilet door to ask me something. It’s a good thing it’s locked.”

Little underestimated
Franke (45): “I could never have estimated how much work it is to combine the household with my children, Puk aged 10 and Olle aged 8, with a job. Especially those mountains of laundry. Someone should have told me that beforehand, then I would have saved for my children’s first ten years for a laundry service with home delivery.”
Still quite warm
Kate (40): “Never thought about it before Fleur (12) and Pip (11) arrived: hot food is often not an option in the first few years, because you are constantly busy with your children. I’m starting to appreciate lukewarm risotto more and more, by the way.”
No slack here
Angela (32): “No, I would never become one of those mothers who says yes nine times out of ten to another candy/an extra hour of iPad/pizza, fries or pasta once a week/outings to the most horrible ball pit situations. I would stand my ground if I ever became a mother myself, because those girlfriends of mine who thought everything was okay fell into the weak bite category.
“Every study day we are just in such a terrible jumping paradise”
But unfortunately I have less backbone than I thought. Since Pitou (5) and Bobbie (7) arrived, I’ve become exactly like this. I choose the path of least resistance and make it as easy as possible for myself. Thuisbezorgd.nl is my most visited site and on every study day we are just in such a horrible jumping paradise.”
