There has never been anything like this at a discounter
Unadorned branches, no classic advertising and social media a foreign word: For a long time, Aldi was the epitome of the conservative discounter, which only lured with low prices. But those times are over. Aldi is making giant strides into the future. A new collaboration with WhatsApp shows just how innovative the grocer has become.
More and more retailers are saying goodbye to classic advertising brochures and relying on digital solutions instead. One of them: WhatsApp. After Obi and Rewe recently announced that they also want to distribute their weekly brochures via the popular messenger, now follows Aldi Süd.
Aldi Süd offers brochures via WhatsApp
Registering for the new prospectus service takes just a few steps:
- With the smartphone on this page walk
- Then press “Start”.
- send zip code
- Select the desired Aldi Süd branch
Henceforth you get every Sunday, between 8 a.m. and 11 a.m., the latest brochure from Aldi Süd via WhatsApp. The brochure itself is sent as a message and contains a link. If you click on it, you will be redirected to the discounter’s website, where you can view the brochure with the latest offers.
That’s a bit cumbersome: It would be more convenient if Aldi sent the complete brochure directly as a picture message with several pictures. The prospectus can be canceled simply by typing “STOP” in the chat. Aldi Süd does not charge for the service, it is completely free.
How well do you know Aldi?
When will Aldi Nord follow suit?
Anyone who fears having to do without their classic Aldi brochure can rest easy. The discounter currently has no plans to pulp its paper brochures. It is not yet known whether and when Aldi Nord will follow suit with a prospectus service on WhatsApp.
