The Slimste mens app is now also accessible to people with a visual impairment

KRO-NCRV has released an update for De Slimste mens app. This update contains a new game element The Smartest Home. This game element makes it possible to play the game as a party game and it is now also accessible to people with a visual impairment. This is new.

New: voice-activated function

The Smartest Home is made to be able to play The Smartest Human as a party game. Just on your phone with your family or friends. The new voice-activated function ensures that you can now speak answers instead of typing. Whether you’re sitting at the table, in the car or on the beach: you can play The Smartest Home anywhere.

Inclusivity is an important subject for KRO-NCRV, which is why it was a great wish to make this popular game accessible to people with a visual impairment. In collaboration with the Accessibility Foundation, KRO-NCRV tested the app with a group of people with a visual impairment. Rob Weijens, an experience expert with a visual impairment, shares his enthusiasm: “This is the first time I can play a quiz together with others, because I don’t have to read questions and answers. Awesome!”

Femke Hesemans, Digital & Marketing manager at KRO-NCRV, explains: “We have previously developed a voice-controlled version of De Slimste Mens quiz for smart speakers. That was a success, but now people with a smartphone can also enjoy this game, which is of course fantastic. In addition, we respond to the needs of current app players. It is very nice to play together and interact, instead of everyone on their own screen.”
