The Penguin: first trailer for the spin-off series of The Batman

Series The Penguin is revealed today with a first trailer where we find the character of Oswald Cobblepot, played by Colin Farrell. The actor portrayed the Penguin for the first time in the film The Batman released in 2022.

Very little is known about the plot of the series, which only recently entered production. But during the presentation of the streaming service Max (which will replace HBO Max in May), Casey Bloys, head of content for HBO and Max, revealed a first look at The Penguin. Images retain the dark, orange aesthetic of The Batmanwith a touch of energy from the series The SopranosColin Farrell gives his all in the role of a gangster on the rise.

“You wonder what kind of life I want”said the Penguin in a voiceover. “The world is not made for guys like us; therefore we must take what is ours”.

Alongside Colin Farrell, we find Cristin Milioti who plays Sofia Falcone (the daughter of Carmine Falcone), Michael Zegen who plays Alberto (the son of Carmine Falcone) and Clancy Brown (who plays Salvatore Maroni, who was once the biggest gangster of Gotham). They are joined by Rhenzy Feliz, Michael Kelly, Shohreh Aghdashloo, Deirdre O’Connell, Carmen Ejogo, François Chau and David H. Holmes.

Series The Penguin will be released in 2024 on the Max streaming platform. There is not yet a more precise date.
