The pandemic disappeared from the Vortex distribution without explanation

The digital version of the board game Pandemic has disappeared from several distribution channels without explanation. This was not preceded by any formal notification. You won’t find the game on Steam anymore and it’s set to disappear from other platforms, although Asmodee, which publishes the title, has not yet provided more details. We only learned in such a semi-official way that it led to more things that cannot be published.

The game quietly disappeared from Steam on January 6, without the publisher’s prior notice. You can still find the site itself, but you won’t buy the title anymore. “Pandemic: The Board Game has been withdrawn from the Steam store at the publisher’s request.” The title has also disappeared from mobile platforms, but of course its former owners, as well as those on Steam, have access to it.

The game is set to disappear from the Microsoft Store on January 31, and the Switch version will also stop selling at the end of July.

One of the users on Reddit, who was surprised by the absence, published an e-mail that he was to receive from the authors. It says it wasn’t an easy decision and they made it with a heavy heart. Now you can buy the game in addition to Steam on the App Store and Google Play, the developers wrote. The game is set to disappear from the Microsoft Store on January 31, and the Switch version will also stop selling at the end of July. Last July, the game received the last DLC, which does not seem to indicate an early end.

No further comments are available yet. Pandemic also disappeared from the official Asmodee website. According to PC Gamer and Wayback Machine, this happened sometime in December. Pandemic was supposed to appear in the free games on the Epic Games Store in 2020, but the event was canceled. Probably because of a real pandemic. It is not clear whether this is related or whether there is another problem behind the current download.
