The OnePlus 10 and 10 Pro will ship the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, it’s official

The boss of OnePlus announces on his Weibo account that the next generation of its high-end smartphones will work with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. An announcement that comes just a few days after the officialization of the presence of Qualcomm’s high-end SoC in the Find X4 Pro from Oppo.

This week, Qualcomm unveiled the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, a new SoC for high-end Android smartphones. This component is engraved in 4 nm, further increasing the fineness of the engraving. It has eight application cores, all responding to the architecture ARMv9. Like the Snapdragon 865 and 888, there is one core more powerful than the rest, based on the Cortex-X2, three less greedy cores based on the Cortex-A710 and four energy efficient cores, based on the Cortex-A510.

It is a component that should be very powerful. Qualcomm announces 20% increase in performance on the CPU and 30 % on the GPU (whose technical specifications have not been announced). Half a dozen manufacturers have already announced that they will take advantage of this SoC for their next flagship: Xiaomi, Sony, Vivo, Asus, OnePlus, Samsung, Oppo, etc. The Xiaomi 12 should be one of the first. Oppo’s Find X4 Pro, whose spec sheet has been leaked, will follow closely behind.

And who says Find X4 Pro, also says next generation of high-end smartphone from OnePlus. The OnePlus 10 and 10 Pro will also work with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. The information had already been revealed by a leak. It is now official. Pete Lau, the director of the OnePlus brand, who also serves as the director of development for Oppo, posted a message on his Weibo account confirming the information. He adds that his team is currently working to optimize the operating system and other hardware components around Qualcomm’s SoC.

The rest of the expected (and still unofficial) technical sheet is not to be outdone. Screen 6.7-inch QHD + with a refresh rate of 120 Hz, 8 or 12 GB of RAM, 128 or 256 GB of storage without expansion, battery of 5000 mAh with fast charge 65 watts (or more), triple photo sensor 48 + 50 + 8 megapixels, without macro sensor, but with a telephoto lens. The commercial release would take place in April 2022.
