The Olympic video game from Sega offers 18 different disciplines -apkrig
In July 2019, we were happy to try a demo version of Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 by Sega from the Japanese PlayStation Store. And we definitely don’t think we will have to wait long for the full version as well as the Olympics itself. In Japan, it was released in July 2019 on PS4 and Switch, in the rest of the world and on other platforms (PC, Xbox One, Stadia), but it will not arrive until June 22 this year.
The reason is, of course, the cononavir pandemic and the postponement of the action itself that accompanies the act. And even though the game is said to be the first more traditional Olympics since its release at the London Olympics – alongside Mario & Sonic at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, for example – the result will still be quite relaxed. After all, judge for yourself.
The title will offer 18 different disciplines, and this diversity has always been a strength of similar games. You will find team and individual disputes between them. The traditional and classic ones are modern and unusual. You can compete in both single and multiplayer and create your own client who represents your country. The Czechia and Slovakia are, of course, among them.
But not only classic athletes have to compete, but also characters in the costumes of a pirate, cowboy, astronaut or, for example, the hedgehog Sonic. And maybe it’s a pity that they both end up in a similar way, as Sega promised at the very beginning.
When it comes to a generous selection of disciplines, we can look forward to running, basketball, baseball, sport climbing, long jump, hammer throw, swimming, boxing, judo, tennis, table tennis, football, beach volleyball, rugby or BMX. It’s a really respectable offer, and working out so many sports in a single game is a huge challenge, as even specialized titles focused on a single discipline often can’t handle it. However, here, of course, one does not expect such depth. While in Japan the disciplines represented have gradually grown through free updates, we will be delayed to receive a complete offer.
It will undoubtedly be interesting to find out whether, given the split between serious simulation and arcade madness, it will be possible to reduce the mentioned costumes in some way. For a single, it might not be a problem and the multiplayer experience might be quite annoying.
The game has an official website and maybe a profile on Steam.
