The next iPad would mark the end of the headphone jack on iOS devices
Apple is going to release a new entry-level iPad and this model should no longer have a 3.5mm jack. Thus, it would mark the end of this take on iOS devices.
Recently, a render of the 10th generation iPad was released showing an overall new design. One notable thing is the lack of a 3.5mm jack.
Apple began removing the headphone jack from its devices with the iPhone 7 in 2017. The last iPhone with a headphone jack, the first-generation iPhone SE, was discontinued in 2018, and the last iOS device with of a jack, the seventh-generation iPod was discontinued earlier this year. With the launch of the sixth-generation iPad mini last year, the entry-level iPad became the only remaining iPad model with a headphone jack.
Those who still want to listen with headphones or wired headphones will need to buy Apple’s USB-C to 3.5mm mini-jack adapter. This one costs less than 10 euros. It is compatible with all other devices with a USB-C port, even non-Apple ones. Indeed, it is possible to use this adapter with an Android smartphone for example.
