The new subscription with ChatGPT can do that

Microsoft has released a premium version of its Microsoft Teams collaboration tool. The main purpose of the new subscription is to increase the productivity of companies and reduce costs. Microsoft Teams Premium includes several AI functions based on ChatGPT.

US group Microsoft has integrated the AI software ChatGPT into its online tool Microsoft Teams. The innovation is part of the new “Microsoft Teams Premium” subscription, which the company is already offering on the Ignore 2022 announced. According to official notice the subscription is now available.

The starting price is currently seven US dollars per month. From July 2023, however, Microsoft Teams Premium will cost ten US dollars a month per user. Microsoft praises the new premium version as follows:

More than ever, companies need solutions to adapt to the changing world of work, increase productivity and reduce costs.

Microsoft Teams Premium: AI functions based on ChatGPT

In order for this to succeed, the US group has integrated functions based on artificial intelligence (AI) ChatGPT into its tool.
The company is breaking new ground to make meetings smarter, more personal and more secure. For example, the AI within Microsoft Teams Premium can automatically generate meeting notes.

It should also recommend tasks and help with the creation of templates. Microsoft summarizes the new AI functions as follows:

  • “With the intelligent summary in Teams Premium, participants receive automatically generated meeting notes, recommended tasks and personalized highlights. For meeting recordings, AI-generated chapters can divide the meeting into sections, allowing users to select content relevant to them afterwards.”
  • “With the live translations (for subtitles), users get AI-supported real-time translations from 40 languages. This way, if the meeting organizers have Teams Premium, all meeting participants can read the subtitles in their own language.”

Microsoft Teams Premium: Virtual appointments and more security

In addition to the integration of ChatGPT, users with Microsoft Teams Premium receive a number of other functions. So-called meeting instructions should help, for example, to determine suitable settings for a meeting. Also new: the so-called “extended meeting protection”, which is intended to make confidential conversations more secure.

This includes: The ability to add a watermark to a screen sharing and limit the permissions of individual participants in a meeting. Microsoft also emphasizes that virtual meetings offer the opportunity to expand business activities.

The company has therefore integrated new functions into its Office 365 offerings. This should make appointment creation easier. In addition, it is now also possible to take part in super browsers. In order to ensure a generally broader participation, appointment reminders can also be sent by SMS in the future.

ChatGPT Plus: Premium subscription for $20 per month

ChatGPT developer OpenAI has also announced a premium subscription to the AI software. That comes from one official blog post of the company. Accordingly, the subscription of 20 US dollars per month should be cheaper than previously expected.

The advantage: Users should have access to additional functions and benefit from faster response times. In addition, subscribers should be able to access the AI reliably even when the server load is high, because this was previously considered a problem. The catch: ChatGPT Plus is initially only available in the USA. An exact start date for Germany is not yet known.
