The new Material You design is spreading through the Google Play store

As early as the beginning of September, we informed you that Google Play is starting to receive a new Material You design. Now this look is starting to reach users through the update, but it’s clearly not done. It is basically limited to the main screen only.

Google Play gets Material You design

The search box is newly in the shape of a pill, ie more rounded and the avatar of your profile fits better into itwhich also has a round shape. Just below this field are various categories that are now colored to the color of your current wallpaper through the feature Dynamic Color, instead of the original green color. The bottom panel with tabs has also changed. The current card is highlighted in a round shape and is also colored via Dynamic Color.

However, this design is not yet available in some categories and sites, which means that we will probably see it sometime before Android 12 gets into the first Pixel phones. If you download the latest version Google Play 27.4, it is not certain that you will get a new design. The update takes place on the server side and Material You was even seen in version 27.3.
