iPhone 14 announced: not mini, but Plus

Apple is making big changes. There will be no small iPhone this year, but a larger model. With its 6.7-inch screen, the iPhone 14 Plus is just as large as the iPhone 14 Pro Max. The ‘regular’ iPhone 14, the entry-level model, is just as large as the iPhone 13 at 6.1 inches.

Under the hood, Apple has improved the processor – making the device faster – and the camera is improving. The selfie camera, for example, captures more light, resulting in clearer shots.

iPhone 14 Pro (Max) leaves the entry-level model behind

A new design (without notch), the best iPhone camera ever and a screen that is always on: the differences between the Pro iPhones and the entry-level models are greater than ever this year.

The iPhone 14 Pro (Max) says goodbye to the notch, and instead has a so-called Dynamic Island. This oval bar at the top of the screen adapts to your behavior. For example, if you receive a call, the Dynamic Island will show the message.

Anything but cheap: iPhone 14 (Pro) is shockingly expensive

The iPhone 14 phones are beautiful, but very pricey. Both the entry-level and the Pro versions are considerably more expensive than their predecessors. For example, the iPhone 14 starts at 1019 euros, while the iPhone 13 ‘only’ cost 909 euros.

We see the same with the iPhone 14 Pro (Max). The best Apple phone of this year costs at least 1329 euros, while the iPhone 13 Pro was sold from 1159 euros. Of course you pay the absolute top prize for the iPhone 14 Pro Max, the largest and best iPhone of this year.

Apple Watch Series 8: Is Now Time to Upgrade?

Enough about iPhones. Apple also presented new smartwatches last week. The Apple Watch Series 8 has the same design as the Series 7, but with some new features.

For example, there is a thermometer in the watch. This measures your body temperature throughout the day. Furthermore, the Series 8 has a crash detection, which can call emergency services after an accident.

This is the Apple Watch Ultra, the Apple watch for athletes

Also new: the Apple Watch Ultra. Made for adventurers, Apple’s first sports watch can withstand even the harshest weather conditions. For example, you can use it while hiking in the mountains, in the desert or underwater.

The Apple Watch Ultra is incredibly strong thanks to the titanium case and has a large 49mm case. This makes it easy to operate the watch at all times. The Ultra smartwatch is not cheap. It costs 999 euros.

Apple Watch SE 2022: with this chip you do want it

At the other end of the spectrum you will find the also brand new Apple Watch SE (second generation). With its suggested retail price of 299 euros, this watch is a lot more affordable.

The Apple Watch SE 2022 has the same chip as the Series 8 (and is therefore just as fast), but has slightly fewer functions. By cutting back on features, Apple has managed to make this watch as cheap as possible.

AirPods Pro 2 now have volume control (which is why you want them)

Finally, Apple unveiled new AirPods Pro. The second generation looks similar to its predecessor, but does have a new chip. This ensures better sound quality.

Furthermore, the AirPods Pro 2 have volume control. Allows you to adjust the volume of music by swiping your fingers over the stem.
