Samsung Message Guard will protect you against invisible form of hacking

Samsung has a new weapon in the fight against hackers and cybercriminals. For so-called zero-click exploits, the manufacturer is now introducing Samsung Message Guard.

Extra layer of protection with Samsung Message Guard

Cyber criminals continue to find new ways to make victims and Samsung is now responding to this. By creating an extra barrier against zero-click exploits, a form of attack in which a piece of code is embedded in images. You cannot see this code, but it runs unnoticed in the background when you view the image. A pleasant new way for hackers to get to users’ personal data.

With Samsung’s Message Guard, a protected environment is set up in which the image is “executed”. This way, the malicious code in the image doesn’t get a chance to access system files or your personal information. The software also checks the image bit by bit for harmful components. Samsung itself indicates that it does not yet see any active abuse based on zero-click exploits.

For now, the app works with Samsung Messages and Messages by Google, but Samsung promises that this will also work with other apps in the near future. Message Guard is available immediately for the Galaxy S23 range, with the solution gradually rolling out to other Galaxy smartphones and tablets later this year.
