The latest e-car is on the way to becoming a blockbuster
E-cars are becoming a guarantee of success for many manufacturers, as shown by the sometimes extremely long delivery times. VW is no exception. With their latest electric model, the Wolfsburg company noticed shortly after the pre-orders started: It’s going better than expected. Production could now be ramped up.
VW ID. Buzz is really good
With the ID. Buzz recently launched an electric Bulli. The first deliveries haven’t even started yet, that’s for sure: The electric Bulli is well received. A few weeks ago, those responsible at the Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles (VWN) site in Hanover were able to determine that production for 2022 was already sold out.
Deliveries are not scheduled to start until October. Carsten Intra, head of the brand at VWN, can imagine that because of the great interest shown by customers to expand production of the electric Bullis. It’s still not running at full speed anyway, but there’s already a plan to get even more out of it.
“We could well imagine one, though Hub for the ID. Set up Buzz in one of our two factories in Poland,” so intra (source: dpa via Southgerman newspaper). There you would enter the ID. Buzz not finished completely as in the main work. But parts of the manufacturing process could be taken over in Poland and thus improve the output.
So far, VWN in Hanover is aiming for 130,000 units per year, a maximum of 150,000 should be possible. Intra has not revealed how many there could be if a location in Poland were to provide support. There could be other locations in China or the USA. So far, however, plans have only been made with Poland, and nothing has been decided there either.
The ID Buzz has had celebrity support from the start:
Elektro-Bulli becomes successful as a workhorse
The ID. Buzz is not yet on the scale of the other electric models. However, the interest of the customers seems to be to be well above the level that VWN was aiming for, at least at the start. So far, the cargo variant of the ID. Buzz in focus, which is particularly ordered by companies.
