The iPhone improves its market share in China, while the others decline

Apple has managed to increase its market share in China with iPhones, although sales have seen a decline. It must be said that the manufacturer is doing better than the others, which allows him to be a winner on arrival.

According to investment bank JP Morgan and the Chinese Academy of Information and Communications Technology, iPhone shipments decreased by about 14% if September and October 2022 data are aggregated to account for later iPhone 13 Pro ship dates in 2021. Without this aggregate data, iPhone shipments show a decline of 30% YoY in October.

This notable data of -30% indicates that demand was higher in October 2021 thanks to the iPhone 13 release date at the end of September compared to mid-September for the iPhone 14.

Despite this drop, Apple saw its market share in China increase by around 1% year-over-year. In 2021, the company was at around 21% market share and aims to be at 22% market share in 2022. This is due to the fact that the Chinese smartphone market has seen demand decline overall by 18% from a year to year. As iPhone demand declined at a slower rate, Apple was able to take more market share.

On the other hand, 5G smartphones accounted for around 80% of total shipments in October. This figure is up from 79% shipments in October 2021. Data for November and December is not yet released.
