The iPhone 15/15 Plus would have a 48 megapixel photo sensor
The iPhone 15 and 15 Plus should improve on the photo level with a 48-megapixel main sensor, according to analyst Jeff Pu. As a reminder, Apple already offers such a sensor on the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max.
The iPhone 15 and 15 Plus would use a new three-level sensor capable of capturing more light for better image quality. But the analyst says the sensor is likely facing performance issues that could lead to production delays for the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus. It relies on information from suppliers and production chains.
As a reminder, iPhones have had the right for years to a main 12-megapixel photo sensor. Apple went up to 48 megapixels with the iPhone 14 Pros, which notably allowed for taking 48-megapixel ProRAW photos that retain more detail in the image file for greater editing flexibility. Now the non-Pro models will get started this year with the iPhone 15 and 15 Plus.
Apple should normally announce the iPhone 15 next September during a keynote. They will have some commonalities, such as the USB-C port instead of the Lightning port. But it is above all the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max that will be entitled to new features, with a new A17 chip, an Action button instead of the silencer, a titanium surround, more RAM and other elements.
