The impossible smartphone really exists
Xiaomi and Samsung build many smartphones. Recently, more and more foldable devices have been added, which are becoming increasingly popular. LG was way ahead of its time. The company showed an “impossible smartphone” shortly before exiting the business field. And that really existed, as a video proves.
Rollable LG smartphone in the video
Would LG’s rollable smartphone have been a success? We will probably never get an answer to this question, because LG left the smartphone market shortly before the official launch. we only have one watched a short render video with the “impossible smartphone”.. That still applies today, because neither Samsung nor Xiaomi have managed to bring a rollable smartphone onto the market. With the X 2021, Oppo has shown a mobile phone that can be rolled out, but it is also a prototype that will probably never be built. So LG could have outshone all the competition.
Suddenly, however, a video of the rollable LG smartphone appeared. So it really exists and works:
And LG’s rollable smartphone works surprisingly well. At the push of a button, the screen enlarges and the software adapts automatically. If you then need a smartphone again, it is simply folded up and made smaller again. However, the design seems relatively fragile, because the display is basically unprotected on the top and bottom when unrolled. LG should have done better in a final model. Otherwise, the idea behind the rollable smartphone is pretty good.
Samsung is planning a similar smartphone
Samsung currently only builds foldable smartphones, but the company’s main goal is to also build a rollable cell phone. Samsung has already shown the future in render videos. Foldable cell phones like this already exist. The next step would be doubly foldable smartphones and the mobile phone that can be rolled out. Xiaomi is certainly also interested in this technology in order to be able to keep up with the competition.
