The Google Search app gets better on Samsung Galaxy tablets

Google continues to improve its Search app and does so this week by optimizing it on Samsung’s tablets. Using Google Search on a Galaxy tablet gets better with a new navigation bar on the right side of the homepage. This way you can view more content within Google Discover and get to the result you were looking for sooner.

Google search

Google Search has been improved on all tablets running Android, writes SamMobile. The only regret is that no Material You MD3 design has been chosen, so that the app does not quite keep up with the rest of the Android devices. You can see that the Discover, Search and Collections icons have not yet been provided with a pill-shaped indicator and that the tab you are on has not been highlighted in gray, but in blue. The three icons are not at the top or bottom: they are where you normally use your thumb in combination with your tablet.

The advantage is that you can get to the most important factors within Google Search very quickly. The user experience is even more important on such a large screen as that of a tablet. We do understand that Google initially focused on that, instead of ensuring that the app fits within the new Material You design (something that it did recently with the Google Weather app).

Material You

Perhaps Google won’t really “turn on” Material You on tablets until it releases its own first Pixel tablet in 2023. We’ve seen a lot of teasing of the smartphone-laptop hybrid, but when it’ll appear is still unknown. We wouldn’t be surprised if Google saved that launch to blow people away with the modern Material You design. Especially if it releases first on the Pixel and later on other tablets, this can give a significant boost to the sales of the Pixel Tab.

Curious? You will find the improvements in the Google app beta (version number 13.46).
