Panic on board this week for Free and MyCanal subscribers who had to deal with a general blackout throughout France. If this was due to an electrical problem and has therefore been resolved, this is not the case with the change in the T & Cs of Audacity, which has decided to collect the personal data of its users. Meanwhile, the Galaxy S22 and particularly its Exynos 2200 are already shaping up to be the bomb of 2022, surpassing in particular the iPhone 12. It will perhaps be placed in the Antutu ranking, of which that of June crowns the Black Shark Pro . Finally, on an unusual note, remember that it is not advisable to install a Starlink antenna on the hood of your car.
General failure Free, MyCanal, CanalSat and TF1
A huge blackout hit Free subscribers this week, which appears to have spanned the whole of mainland France. They are not the only ones, moreover: MyCanal, TF1 or CanalSat services have also encountered some technical problems. MyCanal teams specified that the origin of the problem dates back to a power failure in Boulogne-Billancourt, city where its servers are located. Earlier, an incident occurred at a store near the complex. The firefighters therefore had to To cut the electricity time to finish their speech.
The Galaxy S22 will be more powerful than the iPhone 12
The Exynos 2200 is likely to be Samsung’s heyday in the years to come. Even though the processor is still in the development stage, the first benchmarks are starting to fall. It would be like this more efficient than the A14 chip which propels the iPhone 12. This score, the SoC owes in particular to its GPU signed AMD which clearly changes the situation on the graphics side, until then largely dominated by Apple and its smartphones. It remains to be determined whether the iPhone 13 will manage to maintain its first place.
A Starlink antenna on the hood of a car
At the launch of Starlink, Elon Musk made a promise: bring the Internet everywhere, even in the most remote places on the planet. Obviously, some take this statement a little too literally. This is the case of this American who, after having installed an antenna on the hood of his car, was quickly arrested by the local police. He used it in particular to run his business, which he apparently got into the habit of doing from his vehicle. When asked if it did not interfere too much with his eyesight while driving, he simply replied: “Only when I turn right”.
Audacity is a little too curious about your personal data
Audacity is one of the most popular open source software on the market. Very complete, practical and intuitive, it has above all the merit of being free, and this, without resorting to the resale of the personal data of its users. At least that was the case before its acquisition by Muse Group, who hastened to modify the T & Cs of the application once the transaction was made. Audacity now collects information such as the operating system, the IP address or the country of residence, as well as “the data necessary for the application of the law, for disputes and for requests from the authorities ”. Following the wave of discontent, the Russian firm justified itself by explaining that it is awkwardness in drafting the document.
Black Shark Pro 4 tops June Antutu rankings
Like every month, Antutu reveals its ranking of the most powerful smartphones. In June, it is Black Shark Pro 4 of Xiaomi which dominates the market, followed by the Red Magic 6 Pro and the OnePlus 9 Pro, like last month. Like the rest of the ranking, all of these smartphones are equipped with the famous Snapdragon 888 by Qualcomm. On the side of mid-range smartphones, it is the Mi 11 Lite who wins the prize for power. Second place goes to Honor 50 Pro, followed by its standard model. You can find the full ranking in our article below.
Our tests of the week
On the program this week: the first HarmonyOS tablet, Huawei’s latest 4K screen and the new Xperia. In addition to its well-optimized operating system, the MatePad 11 benefits from a powerful SoC, a quality screen and an unbeatable price: from € 399. Unfortunately, it only offers a limited choice of apps and its charging is a bit too slow. Another Huawei device, the MateView becomes a perfect secondary screen thanks to its well calibrated panel and screen sharing which is carried out without problem. On the other hand, the audio part is a bitter failure and its price € 699 doesn’t help matters. Finally, the Sony Xperia III is a great smartphone. As always, the audio part is enjoyable, just as much as the photo part and its sublime OLED screen. However, we note a slightly low brightness and a selfie sensor that is starting to lag behind.
