The future emojis of iOS 17 are revealed
Like every year, Apple will offer new emojis and those for iOS 17 are revealed. They should logically arrive sometime in 2024 with an update. This year, it took until iOS 16.4 in March.
The new emojis are part of the Emoji 15.1 specification. There is a vertically shaking head emoji, a horizontally shaking head emoji, a lime, a phoenix, a broken chain, a mushroom, families and people going in one direction with multiple skin colors.
We can also note that there are 108 new directional emojis. These emojis build on existing emojis of walking, running, kneeling, with a white cane, in a wheelchair, and in a motorized wheelchair, adding directions such as left and right.
The emojis here are under review, but several of them are already approved at this point and are part of the official releases. Emojipedia created sample designs for the offered emojis. These are therefore not the versions that will be used on iPhones, iPads and Macs, but we can expect a more than similar result with the future update to iOS 17.
It will take until September 2023 for the Emoji 15.1 specification to be finalized. Apple, Google, Microosft and other companies will then be able to create their emojis based on the descriptions and then offer them with software updates.
