The full version of the Czech remake of the horror film Waxworks -apkrig has been released
Went2Play developers surprised players before Christmas with a gift in the form of the full version of Waxworks: Curse of the Ancestors. The 1992 remake of the Horror Soft studio entered the preliminary access program last January, and now its co-author, Patrik Špaček, a Czech developer living in the United States, has announced that the game is ready. This was achieved with the help of colleagues Milan Doležal and Jan Kavan.
Waxworks: Curse of the Ancestors was first introduced to you last April and a month later we had an interview with Patrik Špaček, who had previously worked on an improved version of the famous Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis adventure. The authors describe the remake of Waxworks as a survival horror film, attracting to a fully 3D environment, deadly puzzles, RPG elements, crafting and most importantly an expedition to four unique time periods. The present is from the point of view of the game in 1980. But we will also look at ancient Egypt, medieval Transylvania, Victorian England and the mine in the 1930s.
No spiritual successor, but an authorized remake
We come across Pharaoh, Jack the Ripper and Count Dracula. We will solve puzzles, fight enemies, but also avoid dangers. As for the plot, your job will be to get rid of the family curse. As we wrote before, the authors themselves describe the game as very bloody and the title is not afraid to show explicit violence. Originally, the full version was supposed to be released last July.
The original can be found on GOG, where it currently sells for only $ 1.5. The novelty is an authorized remake, which was created in agreement with the rights owners. “The licensee is Adventure Soft, formerly called Horror Soft. The owner is still Mike Woodroffe, who handles business matters, and his son Simon Woodroffe is helpful if we have questions about the original game, ”Patrik Špaček told us in last year’s interview.
Horror Soft also gave the world the games Elvira: Mistress of the Dark or Elvira II: The Jaws of Cerberus. The later Adventure Soft is most famous for the Simon the Sorcerer series. After all, the Went2Play team was also interested in the mentioned Elvira. “I discussed it with Mike from Horror Soft and Elvira’s manager. Mike has been licensed his Elvira for about 50 years, but Elvira or her manager are very hard traders and have fixed amounts that are unacceptable to indie developers. Those amounts and conditions are going to the skies, “Patrik suggested last May.
The remake is only available for Windows and is currently sold a quarter cheaper on Steam for 9 euros. It also offers, among others, Czech localization.
