The forgotten phone: Motorola C155 from 2004
The name ‘Motorola C155’ may not mean much to you, but the design may sound familiar to you. In this edition of ‘The forgotten phone’ we go back to the year 2004, when the Motorola C155 was released.

In our section ‘The forgotten phone’ and ‘The forgotten smartphone’ we look back at devices that appeared on the market years ago. The one time a popular device that was loved by a large group of consumers, the other time a gem where you get the ‘oh yes feeling’ again and the other time a truly forgotten model. Name a Motorola phone from the past and chances are the RAZR, PEBL or another model will come to mind. But do you still remember the Motorola C155?
This device did not have much in-house options. However, that was not necessary at the time, in 2004. The smartphone was still a long way away and devices were a lot cheaper. Striking about the device were the curves. Not only at the corners, but also the space in which the screen was to be found. This actually reminded a bit of the Motorola Aura, which we discussed earlier in our weekly column.
The Motorola C155 was released in 2004 and featured a CSTN display with a resolution of 67 x 98 pixels and 4000 colors. The screen had a 3: 2 aspect ratio. With a weight of 80 grams, the device was easy to put in a pocket and you could text messages and play various pre-installed simple games. The Motorola C155 was equipped with a 920 mAh battery and offered options such as a stopwatch and the like, but then it soon stopped. Calling and texting, that was the main purpose of the Moto. It should be remembered that the manual of this device consisted of 106 pages.
Motorola C155 summarized in 3 points:
- Low resolution color screen
- Just call and text
- Striking design
