The folding smartphone comes with a big change

In 2019, the Huawei Mate X was one of the first folding smartphones with a flexible display. However, it did not significantly succeed in the market, which can also be said about its successor Huwei Mate Xs, which the Chinese manufacturer introduced last year. A new generation is expected this year Huawei Mate X2, whose date of performance is already according to the portal GSMarena known.

The novelty should change the flexible mechanism after the Galaxy Z Fold2

When Huawei introduced the Huawei Mate X folding smartphone in February 2019, most people took it as a reaction to the Samsung Galaxy Fold model. It was introduced just a week before. However, Huawei decided to go literally in the opposite direction to Samsung with its opening mechanism. While Samsung had an internal flexible display with an external fixed display, Huawei used only one external flexible display.

Thanks to this, the device from Huawei looked more futuristic, but the flexible display was thus directly exposed to possible damage. The same concept was used by Huawei Mate Xs. According to the invitation that Huawei has now sent to the media, this may no longer apply to the Huawei Mate X2.

In the left part of the invitation to his performance, you can see a picture of the folded display and according to the portal GSMarena is to be turned in the opposite direction, following the example of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2. We will find out in three weeks whether the portal is right. In the right part of the invitation, the date of the performance is February 22, which should be intended primarily for Chinese customers.

What do we already know about the specifications of Huawei Mate X2?

Portal GSMarena summarized some of the leaked specifications that are already known today. The flexible display AMOLED display should allegedly have a diagonal of 8.01 ″ and a resolution of 2480 x 2222 pixels. The diagonal of the external display should be 6.45 inches, which is the usual size of displays in smartphones today. Displays for Huawei should be made by Samsung and BOE.

The 5 nm Kirin 9000 5G, which Huawei made itself, will take care of the performance. The battery with a capacity of 4400 mAh is to be charged by a fast charge with a power of 66 W. Interestingly, the system is to be in an older version of Android 10. Needless to say, due to the ban from the US Department of Commerce, it will be without Google applications.
