Instagram is increasingly based on Tiktok and is developing a new story feed. In the future, stories could be displayed one below the other, no longer side by side.

Wipe stories up instead of to the side? Instagram is working on a new feature for the story feed. That would correspond to the design of Tiktok and be closer to the habits of many users.

“Early prototype”

The developer Alessandro Paluzzi discovered the feature and shared it on Twitter. Across from Techcrunch has confirmed Instagram to work on it.

“It is an early prototype that is currently not being tested on Instagram,” said a spokesman.

Focus on videos

Of course, this means that the feature could also be discarded, but shows the direction in which Instagram is thinking. Last year, Instagram launched the Tiktok clone Reels, a vertical feed for videos.

A horizontal story feed would probably fundamentally change the character of Instagram stories and make videos even more important.
