The first major Cyberpunk 2077 patch doesn’t bode well
The first major Cyberpunk 2077 patch is out, but there seems to be too little progress in terms of performance on past-gen consoles.
The first of the two major Cyberpunk 2077 patches is out, but the content is a bit concerning. In January and February of this year, developer CD Projekt Red would like to fix the game for the most part. With the first patch ready, however, it doesn’t necessarily look like Cyberpunk 2077 will soon be flawlessly playable on past-gen consoles.
First Cyberpunk 2077 mega patch is a fact
CD Projekt Red today released the first major patch for Cyberpunk 2077, called patch 1.1. It would be the first of the game’s massive improvements. But the update, about 6-9 GB on Steam, 1GB on GOG and 16GB on Xbox One and PlayStation 4, is pretty thin.
The developer explains the idea of this patch. One thing is for sure though, this is not exactly what players expected.
In this update we lay the foundation for the upcoming patches. We focused on all kinds of stability improvements and bug fixes.
The good news is that apparently it will be easier for CD Projekt Red to release updates in the future. The bad news is that little has changed in performance at the moment. Some users even say their performance has deteriorated on past-gen consoles.
The patch itself fundamentally changes little to Cyberpunk 2077. A lot of quests have been fixed and the rendering of the world should be smoother for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. But again, that is disappointing according to many users.
For all past-gen Cyberpunk 2077 fans, let’s hope this is indeed the foundation for better updates in the future. The next patch will be released in February, probably again towards the end of the month.
