the environmentally friendly Samsung Blue Earth
Samsung sometimes released a strange device in the past. The Blue Earth was also such a device. Samsung released this device with the environment in mind. In this edition we discuss the Samsung S7550 Blue Earth with solar cell.
Samsung Blue Earth
In 2009 Samsung came up with a very striking smartphone. It was the eco-friendly Samsugn Blue Earth and it was made from recycled plastic bottles and had a solar panel on the back. With this solar panel you could charge the Blue Earth. While the idea behind this was good, it wasn’t very practical. Charging for an hour in the sun gave you 2 hours of standby or 10 minutes of internet use on the 3G network.
In addition to the solar panel, which took up 80% of the back, there was also a camera on the back. With this camera you could take photos of 3.15 megapixels and movies in 320p at 15 frames per second. These were stored on the internal memory of 130MB. This is not very large and could therefore be expanded with an SD card of up to 16GB.
The screen was 3.0 inches and had a resolution of 240 by 400 pixels. The Blue Earth did not have a 3.5mm jack to connect a headset, but it did have a speaker. You could connect to the device with WiFi, GPS and Bluetooth 2.1. You could also listen to the radio and MP3 ringtones were supported. You can charge the 1080mAh size battery with the micro USB charger. Of course you could also use this to connect to a PC or laptop. The price of the Blue Earth was around 300 euros.
