Harder times are slowly but surely dawning for Tesla. The pioneer among electric car manufacturers is facing more and more competition, especially from China. Is the turning point now?
E-cars from China in Germany: For Tesla, VW and Co. the air is getting thinner
The Chinese are coming! More and more e-cars are now pushing full force from the Chinese market to Europe, to Germany – and are usually eagerly awaited here. Although China is still by far the most important sales market for German car manufacturers such as VW and Co., but now it’s the other way around. Not only the German brands, but also the e-car top dog Tesla will soon feel this.
In the last few days, several brands have announced themselves for Germany: The MG4 Electric will be delivered to the first customers in this country in 2022, as the former British brand has announced. Today it belongs to the Chinese Shanghai Automotive Industry Corporation (SAIC). Of the electric compact cars from China should stir up the market with a low entry price.
The e-car shooting star NIO will also bring its first electric car to Germany this year. The ET7 will be launched in parallel with NIO’s own battery swap stations. There will be Fully automatic exchange of empty e-car batteries for full ones. Instead of waiting at the charging station for what feels like forever, you can continue after just 4 minutes. NIO thus brings a real unique selling point that Tesla and Co. can be really dangerous.
The series of China competitors continues: BYD has previously announced that its E-cars also before the turn of the year to get started. It is still unclear which model will start in Germany. In any case, BYD is aiming the Seal directly at Tesla’s Model 3.
Mobility – something is happening: E-cars, electric bicycles, e-scooters, the 9-euro ticket for bus and train – all of this moves us in two ways. And what has happened in terms of mobility?
With Ora and Wey still have each other two other Chinese brands that are almost completely unknown in this country announced. They belong to the Great Wall Motors group and each want to present an electric car or a hybrid in Germany.

The China e-cars also have two decisive advantages: The manufacturers advertise with them quick availability and low prices. In the current situation, these are real selling points that many others cannot offer.
