Benjamin Korner: I use my smartphone professionally and privately. Accordingly, the apps are a colorful mix of classic job tools such as Slack (for Android) and wind apps for kitesurfing. The classic communication apps are clearly the most important apps for my job as a headhunter.

Pen and paper have had their day

thereby solves Whatsapp (for Android) more and more mail – here I used the Spark app (for Android), which is particularly smart – from. Communication is less formal and often more personal and faster. As far as researching and communicating with exciting candidates is concerned, it is definitely LinkedIn (for Android) the pivotal point.

In fact, I haven’t been handwriting down new thoughts and ideas or to-dos for a number of years now, but mainly use the Apple Notes app obsidian (for Android). Not only can you create digital notes, you can also manage them smartly.

With apps to the office and back – entertainment and training included

Unless it’s pouring rain, I cycle 22 kilometers to work and back every day. That’s why I have these for my e-bike cowboy app (for Android) on the home screen. In addition, I rely on a mix of mobility apps – from FreeNow (for Android), above Hamburg Transport Association (for Android) until Moia (for Android).

I prefer to spend my time on the road – around an hour a day after all – listening to audio books and podcasts, for example via Audible (for Android), Blinkist (for Android) or the classic Apple Podcasts app. My highlights: “Lifespan” by David Sinclair, “Why we sleep” by Matthew Walker and the “HubermanLab” podcast by and with Andrew Huberman.

Apps for free time

Incidentally, these aforementioned books are – among other things – also the reason why I decided to use the apps heartwatch (for Android), AutoSleep and waking up (for Android) and track a lot from sleep to meditation to sports. All values are consolidated via the Apple Health app.

Figuratively speaking, good sleep is the foundation for me and nutrition, sport and meditation are the pillars of physical and mental fitness. Without tracking, there would be no clue for me as to what I can improve or I cannot understand whether measures are having an effect.

Sport is very important to me and as a passionate kitesurfer I take a look at the first thing every morning Windfinder app (for Android) – and when the wind is good I try to clear my calendar enough so that I can at best go to Sankt Peter-Ording for a few hours.

In general, I’m a big fan of simply outsourcing technical things – that’s why we find each other tado (for Android) – for controlling the heating – and Hue (for Android) – for the perfect light – on my home screen. The whole thing is rounded off by the right music, this is where I start sonos (for Android) and Spotify (for Android).
