Do you feel like action, playing, romping outside, chilling and good food? It’s all possible on the Utrechtse Heuvelrug. There is really a lot to experience in this beautiful part of the Netherlands full of forests, heathland, dunes and castles. Kidsproof.nl collected the best tips.

Where should you start? Of course you don’t want to miss these outings:
- Climb the 81 steps of The Pyramid of Austerlitz for an amazing view. Not so easy to poke your kids? Tell them about the bumper cars, merry-go-rounds, and a little train.
- This all-time favourite is absolutely indispensable. Go on an adventure at Ouwehands Zoo and meet your favorite animals up close.
- There is always something to do at this sturdy museum. During a visit to the assault course, dare to climb and scramble through Xplore or gaze endlessly at the planes. The National Military Museum can also be combined with a visit to café-restaurant Soesterdal. From their terrace you look out on a nice playground for children.

Do you have time left after all the romping, exploring and climbing? Then visit these hidden gems.
- Go for a walk through beech avenues and visit the mini gnome village at Landgoed de Paltz. Don’t tell anyone: the Herman van Veen Arts Center regularly organizes small-scale, musical performances in the Kapschuur on the estate.
- You can play in the sand, swing like a monkey through the climbing trees and go for a walk at the Kaapse Bossen walking route. And then there is also a watchtower to climb.
- In nature play forest De Boswerf you will find huts, hills, hiding places, a stream with a water pump and much, much more.
- Horses enjoy their well-deserved retirement at Paardenkamp Soest. Children are allowed to feed the horses and there is a nice walk along the meadows.
