The attackers pretend to be the Slovak Post again. They send fraudulent SMS messages on her behalf
The attackers are again acting on behalf of Slovenská pošta. On its official Facebook page, the Police of the Slovak Republic draws attention to fraudulent SMS messages requesting payment of postage for a shipment.
The text of the fraudulent SMS message says that you have to pay postage for the shipment, otherwise it will be returned to the sender. At the end of the message is attached a link where you can pay postage. After clicking on the link, a page with the Slovak Post logo will open, stating the date, quantity and amount that must be paid. Specifically, it is the amount of € 1.17 and can only be paid by credit card.
Fraudulent SMS contain errors that reveal them
Scammers are getting better, but they’re still making mistakes to detect. The text of the message contains the consignment number, but the actual consignment numbers of Slovenská pošta have a different form and are longer. The link attached in the report also does not look very trustworthy, as Slovenská pošta uses the domain posta.sk. However, if you are not sure, you can contact Slovenská pošta directly, either in person at the branch or via the infoline, the number of which can be found on the official post office website.
If you have been the victim of this scam, do not hesitate to contact the police.
Fraudsters like to misuse the name of Slovenská pošta
Frauds abusing the name of Slovenská pošta have plagued Slovaks for several months. So far, these have been mainly fraudulent emails asking to pay € 4.99 for postal items. Recently, fraudsters have also appeared on social networks, adding fake job offers on behalf of the post office. Applicants were subsequently asked to send copies of personal documents directly via the social network.
