First, let’s look at why fruit is so important to our bodies.

  • Nutrient: Fruit is rich in many vitamins, minerals and antioxidants that are important for a healthy diet. Different types of fruit contain different nutrients, so it’s good to eat different types.
  • Fiber: Fruit contains fiber that aids in digestion. Fiber also helps keep you feeling full for longer, which can help with weight management.
  • hydrogenation: Many fruits have a high water content, which helps with hydration and is important for overall health.
  • Healthy Snacks: Fruit is an important part of a balanced diet. It is usually low in calories, but at the same time it contains important nutrients.

Fruping Test: The topping for fruit

Behind Fruping are the two founders Florian and Marcel, who developed the idea for the topping for fruit during their student days. When both were busy with their theses, they often resorted to fast food and sweets. They quickly noticed that eating tends to drag them down instead of giving them energy, so they ate more and more fruit.

The problem: the fruit always tasted exactly the same. Then they remembered a spice that Florian had brought back from a trip to Mexico, which is also used for fruit. They used that as the idea to develop Fruping.

We have that Topping for fruits from “The Lion’s Den” tested it myself to find out how it tastes and whether it really provides more variety.

Different varieties

Fruping is currently available in three different varieties: Sweet Hibiscus, Dark Coconut and Lemon Chili. The dry mixes come in environmentally friendly cardboard packaging and are colored so that you can immediately tell which variety it is. You get 45 grams of the toppings per pack.

Sweet Hibiscus contains grated coconut, hibiscus blossoms (38%), coconut blossom sugar and silicon dioxide as a release agent. Dark Coconut contains grated coconut (64%), cocoa, coconut blossom sugar, cinnamon, spices and the release agent silicon dioxide. Lemon chili consists of sea salt, chilli (34%), red paprika granules, acidifier: citric acid, guajillo chili (2%), lime peel (1%), rapeseed oil, release agent: silicon dioxide and lime oil.

Directly on the packaging you will receive information about which types of fruit the toppings are best suited for. In the case of Sweet Hibiscus, there are peaches, pears, bananas, strawberries and raspberries. With Dark Coconut bananas, apples, pears, oranges and strawberries. And with Lemon Chili, it’s coconuts, apples, watermelons, mangoes, pineapples, avocados, and cucumbers.

taste and consistency

All three of Fruping’s toppings have a very fine consistency. This means that the mixtures can not only be poured over the chopped fruit, but also in muesli or quark to get a special taste. All three toppings taste good and give off a special taste.

Since we like to eat fruit anyway and we don’t get bored with the taste, we don’t need the toppings for the pure fruit. But we like to use Fruping as a topping for muesli, yoghurt or quark. We only need a little of the toppings per serving, so they last for a long time. That’s not a problem either, as the dry mixes have a shelf life of over a year if stored in a cool, dry place.

Price of the Fruping fruit topping

The fruit toppings from Fruping cost 15.99 euros in a pack of 3 and 26.99 euros in a pack of 6. You can also buy all varieties in the sample pack once or twice and try all the toppings.
