“That Tesla phone will come when Twitter disappears from the Play Store”
Elon Musk makes it rather colorful with Twitter: so colorful that it is quite possible that the app will disappear from Google’s Play Store and Apple’s App Store. If that is the case, he is considering making a completely new phone with its own operating system. We have often heard about the Tesla phone: will it come after all?

In this way he can create his own app store in which Twitter can be found. It’s obvious that he has tremendous faith in Twitter, or the “everything app” he eventually wants to make it. So much that he would even like to develop a completely new gadget for it.
On the other hand, we now know Musk a bit: he often tweets one wild idea after another into the world. Even in the takeover of Twitter itself, he was extremely fickle: at first he wanted to take over, then he didn’t and eventually we are half a year further and he is on the throne of the social medium. Last week, he decided on the basis of a poll that Donald Trump should be able to come back. He thinks freedom of expression is very important, even if it means that people call for violence.

He can find that and he can do all sorts of things with it on his own platform, but he must not forget how people reach Twitter. They download the app from Apple’s App Store or Google’s Play Store and let those companies apply a slightly stricter regime. So there is definitely a chance that Twitter will be kicked out of the shop at some point. He tweeted a reply to this comment from podcast host Liz Wheeler: “If Apple and Google kick Twitter off their app stores, then Elon Musk should produce his own smartphone. Half the country would laugh and drop the biased, spying iPhone and Android. The man builds rockets to Mars, a simple smartphone should be easy, right?
Musk say: “I certainly hope it doesn’t have to come to that, but yes, if there is no other option, I will make an alternative phone.” How wonderful it must be to have so much money at your disposal that you can make such statements and they can also come true. Incidentally, it is probably not that far yet: there is currently no sound from Apple or Google to throw Twitter out of the app stores. On the other hand, things can sometimes go fast, as Epic Games also knows that it is still struggling with Fortnite and the app stores.

We only wonder why you then have to make a completely new device: isn’t just an .apk file that you can download via twitter.com sufficient? As a user, you can always bypass the app store, even if that is often less safe.
