Aldi Nord and Aldi Süd are no longer just popular food discounters. Especially online you will also find all kinds of devices, from household to technology such as TVs and smartphones to furniture or equipment for the garden. For customers of the Aldi online shop, however, there will soon be a drastic change.

Aldi introduces separate shipping costs in the online shop

If you don’t want to stand in line for the latest bargains from Aldi or if you can’t make it in time before everything is sold out again, you have the chance to switch to the online shop. There is no longer any separation between Aldi Nord and Aldi Süd on the Internet. Almost exactly one year to the day after the merger there is now a major change.

It affects them Shipping. As Aldi has informed us, they will no longer be included in the purchase price in the online shop shown individually. Instead of a total price, you will see the purchase price plus shipping costs for the respective items and on your invoice – and you will also have to pay. The change is scheduled to take effect on October 4, 2022.

The discounter has further announced that the Shipping costs may differ in the future depending on the item and the type of delivery. So you should expect that larger devices, such as a TV, will cost you more to ship than smaller ones.

In future, don’t rely on the fact that the purchase price in Aldi’s online shop is the same as your invoice amount out of habit. These times will be over in a few days with the change.

Does Aldi raise the prices with the shipping costs?

Whether the change also will affect the pricing is still unclear. For example, if an item costs the same before the change as it does afterwards, only then there are additional delivery costs, this is ultimately a hidden price increase. We’ll know in a few days whether that will happen.
