UWANT B100-E – design and functionality
Inside the box is the UWANT B100-E itself, a small pouch for the hose and a small measuring cup.
At first glance, the UWANT B100-E doesn’t even look that bad. You can certainly argue about the shape, but I find the color very appealing. It’s the second impression that really counts.
The fact that it is made of plastic is generally completely fine. It’s the build quality that doesn’t necessarily feel very high quality when touched and used, which also has a little impact on use.
On the front we have two touch buttons that can be used to turn on the UWANT B100-E and switch modes. Blue is the indicator for standard mode and red for max mode. There is a handle at the top that you can use to carry the UWANT B100-E around. It feels a little like a more robust plastic canister and is therefore lighter than it looks.
On the sides of the UWANT B100-E we have two tanks, one for fresh water with about 1/30 detergent and the other for dirty water. The filling itself is generally unproblematic, since the containers can simply be removed and reinserted. The problem for me, however, was that when I remove the dirty water tank, it drips onto the floor because the lower part, where the water is sucked in, is not completely sealed.
The hose and what I call the washing head can be completely separated from the UWANT B100-E or attached to the device. Apart from the fact that I find the hose not very flexible, it does its job of transporting water quite well and at least safely.
At the back of the UWANT B100-E we have a very long and extendable cable. 5m is certainly more than long enough for even very large living rooms. It is very nice that you can retract it completely at the push of a button. However, it would be even nicer if you didn’t have to press the button so hard and the cable could always be pulled in completely. Because often you have to help a little by pulling out the cable a little and pressing the button again. When pulling it out completely, I had to do it relatively often, which I didn’t necessarily enjoy much. Otherwise we have a small compartment at the back where I thought it was for washing-up liquid. But it is not. This is where the measuring cup comes in, which you use to fill the detergent into the container on the side.
There are four wheels on the bottom, two of which are large and two are small. The little ones can turn 360 degrees around their own axis to be able to move the UWANT B100-E through the apartment. These are just so tiny they can barely roll, but with a little force everything comes loose. Otherwise we have a sponge here that is supposed to absorb dripping water and which you should put to dry after each wash.
UWANT B100-E – wipe, wash, clean stains
Connected to the power, switched on and selected a suction strength, it can already start cleaning. To do this, you use the – I will continue to call it – the washing head of the UWANT B100-E. This one has a trigger with which it squirts water onto the surface.
I’ve noticed that this happens over a fairly wide area, resulting in the floor being sprayed around the edge of the sofa, for example. Shouldn’t be a big problem if there are no outlets or other electronic devices nearby. The area that has then been wet is scrubbed with the brush and vacuumed up at the same time. This happens with 8000 Pa or 12,000 Pa, which you can hear quite well, because the process is not quiet, but unfortunately there is not much technical leeway in the nature of the matter.
Now I personally assumed that the UWANT B100-E can be used to clean large areas such as the entire sofa, entire carpets, other upholstered furniture such as office chairs. Some also use it to clean curtains. But even if the egg shape is there, the yellow part of the egg is missing. In fact, the UWANT B100-E is only suitable for smaller areas if you have spilled coffee or something similar. Large areas are possible, but you probably wouldn’t be able to clean the entire house in one day.
Cleaning with the UWANT B100-E requires a little work and patience, but it is very thorough and deep. Since the washing head is quite small, its mobility is not very smooth when you suck your way up to the furniture, and because you have to go through each area several times, it is rather slow. Anyone who thinks that you can just hold it there and make miracles happen with a single elegant movement will be disappointed, because you really have to work for cleanliness. By the way, the furniture doesn’t get completely dry, but I think that’s to be expected.
After the work is done, the user has more work to do. First you have to have the washing head of the UWANT B100-E cleaned. There is a self-cleaning button that you have to press for 30 seconds. The device is flushed through once. This doesn’t work quite as I thought it would, as it actually only cleans the hose part properly. You have to remove and wash the transparent hood yourself. Then you have to empty the dirty water tank. After the tank has been washed out, you still have to remove the sponge below and let it dry. A bit of a hassle for something that should be quick and easy, but cleaning with water is generally more hassle than dry cleaning.
