Tesla starts production of its Cybertruck – with a two-year delay

Tesla started production of its Cybertruck with a delay of around two years. But it could still be a few months before mass production.

Tesla already presented its plans for the Cybertruck at the end of 2019. But the production of the pick-up has been delayed again and again since then.

More than two years ago, Elon Musk wanted to start production. The first model has now rolled off the assembly line at the Gigafactory in Texas. This was shared by the electric car manufacturer via Twitter with.

The tweet contains, among other things, a photo showing numerous employees. They all surround the model of the futuristic pick-up and mostly cover it. The image is captioned: “First Cybertruck built at Giga Texas! 🤠”

When will series production start?

In November 2022 it leaked out that Tesla wants to start series production of the Cybertruck at the end of 2023. But the US group is apparently still a long way from that.

Because it currently looks as if mass production of the e-pickup will only be able to start in the coming year. For potential buyers, this also means further waiting.

Tesla Cybertruck: problems with prototypes

The production of the Cybertruck is particularly complex due to its design and the material used. Because the body is made of stainless steel, for example. A machine with which Tesla can produce the die-cast parts for the Cybertruck had to be specially made.
