Tesla is once again marketing its electric quad for children… in China!
Prohibited to UNITED STATES for fairly obvious security reasons, the ” Cyberquad for Kids » of Tesla starts triumphantly in China. As a reminder, the Cyberquad for Kids is the replica of the electric quad Cyberquad that Tesla had presented in 2019 at the same time as the cybertruck (which finally comes out of the factories). This children’s quad is equipped with a 500 watt electric motor and a 188 Wh battery, and can reach the maximum speed of 8 km/h for approximately 13 km. Launched last year in the United States, the vehicle was finally banned from marketing by the American Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), the latter pointing to “risk of injury”. All the quads already sold had been recovered by Tesla against reimbursement.
As China is often less attentive to the safety standards of consumer products – which also explains the large number of more or less serious cases – there is very little chance that the Cyberquad for Kids will be marketed elsewhere in the world, and that is probably not a bad thing…
