The biggest cryptocurrency theft involving a single person. A teenager in Canada has quite the scoop. It was not long to enjoy his theft. Police in the country were on the trail of the thief and were able to arrest him.
Teen steals crypto
In total, the teenager had stolen $46 million worth of cryptocurrency. Converted, that equates to more than 32 million euros. The owner of all those millions was misled by the thief. For example, the teenager managed to steal from the owner on the basis of a SIM swap. The victim’s phone number was hijacked and two-factor authentications could be performed. And they gave access to accounts where millions of euros of crypto were stored digitally.
Due to the stupid act of the thief, this person ran into the lamp. The teenager had used part of the money to register a rare username for a game. That transaction caught the attention of the Hamilton police and they tracked down the thief. 7 million Canadian dollars worth of stolen crypto could be seized immediately.
