Techblogging VS Ukraine War

There is war in Europe – and it just feels unreal to me. For a long time I thought about whether it makes any sense to write an article here on our tech blog that deals with the current situation. However, I feel that under these circumstances I cannot just carry on as if nothing happened.

My biggest motivation for blogging and YouTube video productions is my enthusiasm and curiosity for technology. For me, authenticity and honesty are the most important cornerstones of my work as a blogger and journalist. Therefore, after a short time, I can already foresee that I can’t just stand in front of a camera at the moment to shoot YouTube videos in a good mood.

Actually, I would have flown to Portugal next week at the invitation of Continental to literally experience with various sports cars on and off a race track how important a good tire is for driving. An event that would not only have been instructive, but would also have been a lot of fun. So a combination of work and fun that I was really looking forward to! But at the moment I don’t think that’s appropriate.

Also, my drive to publish articles and videos that are actually already shot and almost finished is just idle at the moment. In view of the current dramatic situation in Ukraine and the threat to its citizens, all the content that I otherwise regularly produce seems to me to be simply insignificant at the moment.

Good and honest journalism is more important than ever.

Even though I’m primarily a journalist on the road as a blogger, I’ve always set a high standard for myself to describe things as they are and to point out grievances when they reveal themselves to me. Against the current background of this global political crisis, I currently lack the compass to live up to my journalistic standards at this time and simply report on technology when another topic is of such essential importance to all of us.

“Business as usual” can’t be the way to go. Everyone must take a stand and stand up for freedom of speech, freedom of thought and all citizens.

I am sure that our democratic countries will find an appropriate response to Russian President Putin’s aggression and will defend freedom and security in the world.
