Taming and breeding wildlife

While you are still hunting for wild animals with your bare hands in the forest at the beginning of the game in Valheim, it is worth taming the animals later in the game. We explain to you how taming and breeding wild boars works.

In Valheim you need a lot of food and leather scraps. So that you don’t have to laboriously procure them when hunting, the breeding of animals is worthwhile. To do this, however, you first have to catch them and get used to them.

Catch and tame wild boars

Find an open area that will later serve as an enclosure for the wild boars. Then set up a workbench in that area. Now you can build structures in the vicinity. Choose the Ski guard from the submenu To build is to be found. Use it to build a small enclosure, but leave one side open.

Then look for a wild boar and approach it. As soon as that Animal aggressive you can do it up lure into the enclosure. As soon as you two together inside the fence, you can pull out your hammer again and close the enclosure. Now all you have to do is jump over the fence and the wild boar is trapped.

To tame the wild boar, you have to feed it. Above all, they offer this Raspberries, Mushrooms and Carrots at. Throw the food to the animal by opening your inventory and dragging and dropping the items out of the window. Your character will then throw them straight on to the ground.

Now you need patience. As long as you stay near the wild boar and it has enough food, it will acclimate and slowly become tame. You can see the progress when you step close enough to the animal, then a percentage display is shown. This process can take several in-game days. We recommend sneaking near the wild boar. This not only trains your skills, but also lowers the risk of frightening the animal.

Breeding wild boars and having offspring

As soon as your wild boar has been tamed 100 percent, the animal is no longer dangerous. From this point on, you can also stroke the animals to bind them to you. Around to start breeding, you need, however several tame wild boars, so repeats the catching and taming at least once.
