TAG Heuer Brings Back the ‘Dark Lord’ for Monaco Formula 1 Grant Prix
This special edition of Tag Heuer for the Formula 1 Monaco Grand Prix is a modern interpretation of a classic from the 1970s.
Still a nice combo: fast cars and fat watches. So this time too. Today, on the eve of the Monaco Grand Prix, TAG Heuer brings the Dark Lord back to life. The overall aesthetic has been overhauled with this new watch, touted as a Monaco Special Edition for the Monaco Formula 1 Grand Prix.
Formula 1 and TAG Heuer
The ‘new’ watch has a diameter of 39 mm in the classic square configuration. It has some modern finishing techniques through both the brushed and grain structure on the dial. The hands and markers are rose gold plated and the other colorful accents are in striking red.
As for the black case, it is made of grade 2 titanium and is DLC coated to create the black color. The watch is water resistant to 100 meters, has a sapphire crystal back and will be available in conjunction with the race this month.
collectible
Many manufacturers release special editions to boost sales. It’s not necessarily a surprise to see TAG release a new Monaco. In fact, we see a large number of special or reissues of Monaco or Carrera every year.
But this watch has serious historic timepieces. The Dark Lord is a cult classic model, produced in limited quantities and highly collectible. It also represents a groovy time in Heuer’s history, when it leaned heavily into the PVD game with watches like this and the Monza.
The price is EUR 7,750.
