T-Mobile brings Apple Watch with 4G to the Netherlands

You won’t need an iPhone with you for an internet connection on your Apple Watch. T-Mobile confirms that it will support the first 4G version of the Apple Watch in the Netherlands. It will be available from Friday, November 5.

The addition of 4G to the Apple Watch is called Multisim. This is an extra SIM that you link to your existing subscription. So you can leave the house without an iPhone and still stay connected. The 4G version of the Apple Watch is out Friday October 29 to order. A week later, on Friday November 5, you will have the smartwatch with Multisim at home at the earliest.

You get the Apple Watch with 4G in combination with the Cellular version of the Apple Watch Series 7. This is the latest smartwatch from Apple that the company introduced in September. In addition, you need an iPhone 6s or newer to use Multisim.

It is also possible to take out a separate Multisim subscription. Such a subscription costs 5 euros per month. This is useful if you already own a cellular version of the Apple Watch because you bought it abroad. You can recognize a cellular Apple Watch by the red ring or dot on the dial.

Ideal for athletes

The 4G support of the Apple Watch is a feature that users have been asking for for years. For example, the addition is ideal for athletes, such as runners or cyclists. They can now leave the phone at home and still remain reachable and stream music.

Multisim for the Apple Watch is new in the Netherlands, but abroad 4G in combination with the Apple Watch has been possible for some time. In Belgium, this has been possible since the end of 2020, via Telenet. In the Netherlands, T-Mobile is the first to offer an Apple Watch with 4G, but more providers will follow. For example, KPN has already promised to offer an Apple Watch with cellular.
