T-Mobile and other companies have canceled CES 2022

We are approaching the third year of the coronavirus pandemic and one industry is still particularly affected by the restrictions: the events industry. In the last few months, many trade fairs worldwide have been canceled, but in the meantime one or the other event could take place completely or at least with restrictions. How things will continue in 2022 is still uncertain.

This becomes clear again shortly before the Consumer Electronics Show CES in Las Vegas. The fair should actually take place regularly, but gradually more and more participants jumped off. With Mike Sievert, CEO of T-Mobile, another important person including the company is not taking part, the originally planned keynote has been canceled.

T-Mobile will only arrive with a reduced delegation and thus follow other companies such as Amazon, Meta, Twitter or Pinterest. Even large publications such as CNET, TechCrunch or The Verge will not be present at the fair. And that’s not over yet, other corporations are also reducing their presence.

AMD and Samsung only want to take part in CES with a small booth, Nvidia is moving its own booth completely into the virtual world and will only hold one virtual keynote. Other participants could follow, especially since the situation around the Omikron variant is still quite confusing.

The organization behind the CES, however, continues to promise an event that is worth a personal visit. Without the usual suspects in the tech industry, it remains questionable whether CES 2022 can follow in the footsteps of the past few years.
