Switch off protection against accidental touch (touch protection on Android)

Some manufacturers such as Realme, Huawei or Oneplus have integrated “pocket touch protection” in Android smartphones. At Samsung, the function is called “Accidental Touch Protection”. This is to prevent unintentional actuation of the display in the bag or trouser pocket. However, sometimes this function is annoying. You can deactivate the touch protection in the settings of the Android device.

If the feature is activated, the screen cannot be unlocked if the upper display area is covered. Although the touch protection makes sense so that no functions are unconsciously executed on the smartphone when the device is in your (trouser) pocket, it is annoying if you have your smartphone in your arm pocket while jogging and want to use it, for example.

If the function is switched on, you will see a small LED at the top of the display that flashes from time to time. This is the proximity sensor that determines whether the smartphone is in a pocket or similar. The light is intended to prevent the screen from being activated unintentionally.

Disable touch protection (Android)
