Survey, translation, message deletion… 8 tips for the mobile version of Skype (Android & iOS)

1/ A shortcut for your favorite conversations

Instead of opening the app every time you want to talk, you can start a conversation right from the home screen. Long press the app icon and select a contact by long pressing again. A dedicated icon will take place on the home screen: resume your conversation with a single gesture!

2/ Edit or delete a message

Did you just write a big nonsense to one of your contacts? Don’t panic, do a long press on the message sent then choose Edit in the window. Then remove the words that bother you in the message and correct the mistakes before pressing OK. From here you can also To delete.

3/ Share files and contacts

When you have selected a contact, you will see an icon at the bottom with a +. From here you can send photos, videos, but also files and even your geographical location. Convenient to meet up with yellow vest friends…

4/ Schedule a call

In the same menu, you can plan a call with a correspondent. You will therefore be notified when it is time to make your call. Never miss an important call again!

5/ Take a survey

always in Content and tools, you can send a poll to your friends. It may seem superfluous, but it is very practical. Rather than getting lost in explanations and answers to analyze (especially with several participants), simply ask a question with a vote in the key: Where are we going to eat this afternoon? What wallpaper color would you choose for the break room? Who’s gonna tell John he should keep his shoes on at work?

6/ Send Skype Credit

Last trick in this menu: sending Skype credits. You probably know it, but to call a normal number with Skype (mobile or landline), you have to pay with Skype credits. If your correspondent cannot afford them, it is possible to send him 2, 5 or 10 € from your reserve. Be careful, you can only do this if your contact has opened an account with the possibility of putting credits.

7/ Translate conversations

It’s a very nice option. It is indeed possible to translate a conversation on the fly with a correspondent. Convenient to make your Serbian mother-in-law understand that she cannot come for Christmas. Tap your profile picture at the top then go to Settings>General>Translation Settings. After choosing the Default spoken languageyou can choose to have a woman’s voice or a man’s voice translated.

8/ Add participants

When you talk with a correspondent on video, it is possible to share the screen, take a screenshot, record the video and add subtitles, but the most practical option remains the possibility of adding correspondents “at the stolen”. No need to restart the whole session with endless invitations. If a correspondent connects while you are talking, just do Add Contacts at the bottom left.
