Super Mario gets Chris Pratt’s vote – and one is not surprised
Nintendo has announced that actor Chris Pratt will voice the popular character Mario in the upcoming animated film about the two plumber brothers. The internet is confused – and someone foresaw it.
Anyone who says Nintendo should actually also say Mario. In 1981 the friendly Italian with blue dungarees and red cap made his first appearance in the arcade game “Donkey Kong”. Since 1983 his brother Luigi has supported him in many adventures. In 1993 the two even made it to the big screen with a feature film. They are slated to return there in 2022 – this time in an animated film.
As part of the Nintendo Direct product presentation event, Mario’s creator Shigeru Miyamoto revealed details about the cast of the film planned for December 2022 on September 23, 2021. One of the biggest surprises is probably the fact that Mario will speak with the voice of Chris Pratt – known from blockbusters like the Avengers or Jurassic World series.
But Mario has long since had a voice – the characteristic βIt’s-a me, Mario!β Has been coming from Charles Martinet since 1995. Nintendo did not explain why they chose Pratt. In the video, however, it is assured that Martinet would be involved in the creation process and would also get one or two chameo appearances.
And while the Internet is still busy discussing whether the recently well-trained Pratt with his six-pack can adequately represent the plump plumber Mario at all, a: e Twitter user: in should lean back with satisfaction: In May 2020, Sthegeneral had speculated that the animated film would not be Put on Martinet’s voice and instead “cast someone like Chris Pratt”.
Direct hit, I would say.
