Sunbird makes it possible on Android!

Soon you will also be able to send messages via iMessage on Android and you will no longer need an iPhone. And the cool thing is? You will not see any green speech bubbles to reveal that your phone is running on Android.

Read on after the ad.

iMessage without iPhone, but with Android

Do you have many American friends who use iMessage? But are you on Android? Then there is now a handy app. This allows you to send messages via iMessage on Android (so you no longer need an iPhone). However, the new Sunbird app is still only available in beta.

How does Sunbird work?

Sunbird works quite simply. You log in with your Apple ID and you can start app immediately. In addition, your recipients will see the messages in blue speech bubbles, just as if you were using an iPhone. The app also promises that the technology is safe and that everything is properly encrypted. Your data is therefore not just lying on the street.

The ultimate goal of the Sunbird app is not just to bring iMessage from iPhone to Android. It aims to become “one inbox for all your messages,” no matter what operating system you use. That’s why there are plans to extend Sunbird to other messaging apps. First on the list are WhatsApp and Telegram. There must also be a web app to have all communication apps centrally on one laptop.

iMessage on Android: already tried many times

This isn’t the first time someone has tried to bring iMessage to Android, but it seems to be the easiest. For the other solutions you need a Mac or a ‘jailbroken’ iPhone. We do wonder if this app will win the legal battle against Apple. Apple is not known for a lenient attitude towards third-party apps.

In addition, we wonder at all whether Apple wants iMessage to come to Android in this way. The app should be available for download within six months. For now, Android users are on a waiting list to test the app.
