Subway Surfers: The most popular free video game in the world
The recipe is simple: a young graffiti artist gets caught tagging a train and he has to flee the plump policeman who is running after him. He cannot stop and must avoid the obstacles that stand in front of him: barrier, train, wall, etc. He can jump and must collect as many coins as possible on his way. The game doesn’t have a board or even an ending, but the difficulty increases. If the policeman catches you or if you eat an element of the decor, it’s “game over”.
Impressive longevity
quite addictive, Subway Surfers is free, but offers a lot of in-app purchases: rocket to skip the start of the level, coin multiplier, avatars, keys so you don’t have to start over from the beginning, surprise boxes, etc. It is nevertheless easy to have fun without paying, but we can easily imagine the kids asking dad/mom for an advance of pocket money for such and such an item, especially since the purchase proposals are very numerous at l ‘screen. The game displays not very invasive advertisements, but offers additional bonuses against the display of claims, impossible to pass these.
The recipe works, because this video game that was the most downloaded in 2022 according to Apptopia, however, is not a 2-week-old rabbit: it was launched in 2012! A 10-year-old game on mobile does not happen every day, especially as the enthusiasm of the players does not seem to drop.
Subway Surfers even recently passed the 3 billion download mark. Admittedly, the 8-year-olds who downloaded it in 2012 will soon pass the Baccalaureate and no longer have to play on it, but the performance is to be welcomed. If you do not know it yet and you download it, it is available on the Play store.
