Starting Tuesday, you’ll be able to sign into Fitbit with Google
Starting next Tuesday, June 6, you can log into Fitbit with your Google account. Google acquired Fitbit in January 2021 and although there was a lot of controversy about it, the acquisition has gone ahead. Although you can still use your Fitbit account for a very long time, it is also possible to log in with your Google account every Tuesday.
Droidlife writes that Google has provided this information, although, remarkably enough, it has not yet made it official. It’s almost June 6 already. On the other hand, it is mainly an extra option in the beginning: you can log in with your Fitbit account until 2025. Google wants to give users plenty of time to make the move, but also to still use their Fitbit devices without Google having too much to do with it. Although the takeover is complete, so Google has in principle been in control behind the scenes for a long time.
From Fitbit to Google
In the near future we will probably see the two accounts grow closer together. Google has also made some adjustments to the app. For example, it has said goodbye to the Challenges, with which you could challenge friends to exercise a lot and thus ‘win’ the month. Too bad, because it was a nice addition, but Google clearly has a different focus with its new fitness branch.
Although you still have until 2025 to say goodbye to your Fitbit account and go for a Google account in combination with the Fitbit app, you will eventually have to believe it. Ultimately, you still have to switch to the Google account if you want to continue using your Fitbit after 2025. So you can do that from Tuesday, or postpone the move for a while.
What do you think about having to log in to your Fitbit with Google? Are you going to move right away, or are you waiting a while? Leave it now in the comments.
