Starfield on PS5? Sony is Xbox exclusivity thorn in the side
The media mud battle over the takeover of Activision Blizzard by Microsoft is entering the next round! This time, the focus is on big Bethesda games like Starfield and The Elder Scrolls 6. Competitor Sony disturbs the possible exclusivity of these games.
Starfield: Will the PlayStation go empty-handed?
Exclusive titles are probably the biggest criterionwhen it comes to which console a buyer chooses. Or to put it another way: If you love Halo, you choose the Xbox and if you want to play God of War, you need a PlayStation.
That’s why Microsoft’s plan to take over Activision Blizzard a real problem for arch-rival Sony. After all, the Xbox incorporates influential brands like Call of Duty or Diablo.
For this reason, Sony’s lawyers are also trying very hard to influence the multi-billion dollar deal.
Japanese publisher thinks Microsoft’s attempt to buy Activision Blizzard “should be banned or subjected to structural regulation”.
The reason for this statement was a statement by Xbox boss Phil Spencer, who announced some time ago that the upcoming role-playing games Starfield and The Elder Scrolls 6 will be exclusive to the Xbox. Although Microsoft actually has the motto “We are for cross-platform!”, doesn’t it?
Sony mainly refers to this statement:
“Microsoft has publicly stated to investors that they strongly encourage cross-platform gaming because if it’s good for the gaming ecosystem, it’s good for them.” (Source: insider gaming)
Here’s how the internet is reacting to Sony’s crusade
The reactions on the internet are unequivocal: The majority sees Sony’s approach as hypocritical. After all, the group has rejected any cooperation with Microsoft in the past.
Now that the balance of power is about to tip, Sony presents itself as an advocate of cross-platform games. The Japanese company itself has a bulging catalog of exclusive titles that will probably never appear on the Xbox.
However, Microsoft is undeterred and close more deals:
