Starbucks earbud cases don’t make sense, but they are fun

Samsung

Samsung brings Starbucks earbud cases to the market that are completely redundant.

Starbucks has always been good at marketing. Now it comes again with a gimmick. As noted by 9to5Google, Starbucks has partnered with Samsung to create branded cases for the Galaxy S22 range and the Galaxy Buds 2.

One of the Buds 2 case options is a dark green case with a Starbucks logo. The other is a small white mug with a handle and fake latte art, the top of which flips away to reveal your earbuds. Thanks to the giant mermaid logo on the side, it won’t appeal to anyone but the most die-hard Starbucks coffee drinkers. But still, it’s fun.

Samsung also has a history with nice cases like this one. For example, you might remember the pokéball case for the Buds, which it released last month. Like that one, the mug is just hilariously impractical: It takes a small, unobtrusive pocket-sized case and it turns into something loud and impractical.

Of course it has no real added value because it has a Starbucks logo on it. But why shouldn’t chargers be fun? The mug is just a nice desk accessory, a place to put your entire earbud set so you don’t have to constantly rummage through your pockets and desk to find those little things.

Unfortunately, we do have some bad news to tell. The earbud cases are only available in South Korea. Perhaps they will come to Europe after that, but that is not certain.
